The Army Crawl
On Tuesday (Beau Walker Rapalje's birthday - YESSS!!!), exactly 36 weeks old, just over 8 months old, Colton figured out how to MOVE FORWARD!!! Go Colton! He is very proud of himself (me too!). I think maybe I've been unintentionally holding him back by keeping him in pants and booties (in my defense, our house is cold, it was built in 1860 and it's winter!). The second I took his pants and shoes off, bam, forward movement. It's only been since Tuesday, but he's already gotten faster. He still doesn't need to do it all the time, only when he sees something he REALLY wants (of course, something he shouldn't have - iPhone, a cord, glass of wine, etc).
With the army crawling also came even more of a personality... and trouble. At Bailey and Ben's yesterday, he immediately crawled over to the cat food/cat water and tried to eat it. Yesterday morning he was kicking the closet doors upstairs and they were making this loud clunking noise. I moved him away. He crawled back to do it again. This happened three times. The diaper change ninja moves have also begun. He is also pulling up on EVERYTHING now (he used to only pull up on his basket and on my legs). It's like he started crawling and then became a dare-devil. Aaaand yesterday when I got him from his nap, he was standing up and eating the side of his crib (yes, you were right Mrs. Rapalje!). My friends kept warning me that I didn't want a crawling baby, but I just think it's so much fun to watch him, see what he's interested in and figure things out for himself.
On a different note, when I put him his 8 month old picture, I forgot to mention two things that I don't want to forget - 1. his obsession with rubbing his toys on his head. It is hilarious. I think maybe he gets this from A who rolls the car all over C's body/face/head. 2. His ability to turn in circles around on the floor (on his belly) to get places. Of course, now he can crawl and does that instead, but it was pretty clever and adorable to watch him circling around to get places. He was especially fast when he combined the circle turn and roll.
